ATTIC FANS DIY

Cost of installing an attic fan or whole house fan?
Hello All,
We’re looking to install a whole house fan / attic fan. The house is 1000 sq.ft and is two stories. How much should we expect to pay for the installation services? I live in San Jose, California.
I want to make sure I’m not ripped off – not the DIY type and have to hire an electrician or contractor to do this for me.
Also, how much should I expect to pay for a good attic fan itself that is controlled by a humidistat / two drive / belt driven and installed inside the attic (not on the roof)?
Thank you for your answers.
Sally
We recently had a humidistat / thermostat controlled attic fan installed in a gable in our attic. While he was running wires, he also installed a light fixture and switch in the attic. The whole job was completed by an electrician and it cost $250. This was in Pennsylvania.
