diy audio amp?

hello. i just scraped a old tv that had a 35W speaker in it. i tried to used it with headphone jacks but didnt work and im guessing it is because of inceficient power. would it be possible to build an audio amp that can be used with headphone jacks to this 35W speaker. i have seen some diy amps but im not sure if they will me good enough and not sure if it will even work. thanks

If you took the speaker from the TV why didn’t you took the power amp from it too??
