Birdhouse for gerbil nesting box?
Today I got a Do-It-Yourself birdhouse. I’m going to use it as a nesting box for my gerbil.
The DIY birdhouse pack includes= All the wood (untreated) , paints and sandpaper and paint brushes.
I am not going to paint it because that might harm the gerbil.

It is a standard bird house, with the full wooden roof. My da only nailed on one side of the roof so that the gerbil has a way to get out of the box if he is in-able to use the bird hole.
Will the screws affect my gerbil in any way?
Would the paint be harmful to him?
The wood is very thick and unchewable. So im not sure is a 5mth old gerbil will have the strenght to chew it. But i am gonna try the house and see!
dont paint it cos it can kill them and the nails will harm them if they bite them and there likely to.i suggest you use some other form to stick it together(not glue or nails or anything toxic)think wood made wedges or something?
