BRAKE LINE DIY

car inspection and maintainance question?
Does anyone know how to inspect the following? Are these easy to diy?
Ball joints and dust covers
Brake lines and hoses
Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs 4
Differential oil (does this mean engine oil?)
Drive shaft boots
Engine coolant 3 (is this just coolant/antifreeze?)
Exhaust pipes and mountings
Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
Fuel tank cap gasket
Radiator, condenser and/or intercooler
Steering gear box
Steering linkage and boots
Does top three items on the list belongs to break? Does the tires needs to be taken out to inspect those?
Ball joints are easy. Take a pry bar and wedge in between the ball joint and boss and check for play. Ball joints are part of the chassis and suspension. Fill with grease using a grease gun untill grease begins to over flow. Some are non-seviceable meaning there is no erc to add grease.
Brake pads by visual inspection.
Brake lines, check for rust on the metal part and cracks or other wear or rubber parts. There are metal fealers on the brake pads that scrape against the rotor and make a screeching sound (some people call them screamers because of the sound they make when rubbing) when it needs to be replaced.
Differential oil is in the rear axel differential. Can not be checked with out removing rear plate.
Engine coolant is the anti-freeze water mixture, testers only cost a couple of bucks at any auto parts store and come with directions.
Exhaust pipes check for holes and leaks. Mounts are the rubber connectors between the frame and exhaust. Check for cracking and such.
Other hoses on the engine such as radiator hoses check for cracking and glazing. Glazing is when the hose appears shiney.
Disk brake rotors are checked by using a micrometer to check thickness and a strait edge to check for warping. Drums are checked using a caliper to check that inner diameter is sufficient.
Tires are checked by tread wear, a good way is to insert a penny into the tread and if the tread is at least up to the presidents head it is leagal. For ballencing, a tire shop will have to check that. Other than that, just make sure the tire has the air pressure requried, it is indicated on the side wall of the tire. Keep all your tires at the same pressure. Look for any cracking on the side walls.
Stearing box, cheack for leaking. Fluid leaking from it.
You can go to the library and they have auto manuals that will answer all these questions in more detail.
