DIY Trickle Filter Size?
I’m constructing a Wet/Dry Trickle Filter for my 75gal reef tank (Soon to be) and I’d like to know what kind of tank to use for it? Would 20gallons be good? On youtube somebody used 30gal for 90 and it worked well, so I’m wondering if 20gal would be ok for a 75gal tank. Also in a Refugium is it better to use sand or mud? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
for my marine and tropical tanks i have always had trickle filters and they are great. when i made mine i measured the the cabinet up and made the filter as big as the space would allow. 20 gal would be ok but if you could go a little bigger it would not hurt. dont be restricted by pre made tank sizes as you can quite easily make yours from glass or perspex easy enough to suit the room available. good luck
