How To Get The Most Decking

Construction of a wooden bridge is a wonderful way to improve your home and garden. Wood is a natural product, which is much more flexible and easier to work than most other materials. You can build virtually any shape, size or style you want from a simple ground floor deck, in a wide raised split-level design, with ramps and stairs.

As in any garden design, you need to prepare your deck area very carefully decide what function it serves, what you want to it, what do you want to cover and, especially, if you want to enclose an area of the home or be placed in another part of the garden.

2. Clear all weeds, grass and other debris from the site and compact the soil, leaving a gentle slope towards the outer edge of the deck for drainage.
3. Place a membrane to remove the weeds, and then cover with gravel.
4. You are ready to start building your image. You need to work on the finished level of the bridge and build accordingly – remember that the key to a good deck area is a good solid framework.
5. Decide how the final decking boards are going to run and build the main joists of the image in the opposite direction. The framework can be built directly on the patio or can be built with pillars.
6. It is best to screw all boards in place to ensure a good solid finish, which will last many years.
7. A reasonable gap must be left between each board to allow drainage and expansion.
8. Strengthen the basic framework with cross membranes for added strength.
9. You can paint your terrasses whatever color you want, or simply enjoy its natural finish.

Once your deck is complete, you will need to take certain steps to ensure that it stays looking good. Keep deck areas clean by regular brushing – a stiff brush to remove mold and algae. Sometimes it’s good idea to use a pressure hose for a more thorough cleaning. The pots should be raised to allow adequate air circulation and avoid an accumulation of mold. Ensuring the proper use of quality materials and ensure that your deck is well constructed and maintained, you should get many years of enjoyment out of it.
