DIY PLANT STANDS

How can I remove deep rooted stumps (diy)?
On both sides of my concrete walkway, there were two very large landscaping bushes. They stood about 6 feet and were “needle” bushes. They’ve been in the yard since we moved into the house about 12 years ago.
We recently started to remove them. Large stumps are all that remain now.
We tried pulling them out with a chain and vehicle and were not sucessful.
I’ve dug the dirt up about 2 feet deep around the stumps but there is no telling how deep and wide they spread.
How could we go about removing these stumps on our own?
(I was thinking about trying to dig a little further and taking an axe to them. If I did go this route I worry about whether or not we could plant something else in the area. I know this would be time consuming and if the remaining deep roots would hinder the growth of other plants I will not make the effort.)
hmm sounds like you need a stump grinder. It won’t take the stump out, but it does grind it down to a level where you don’t see it. Otherwise you may want to call a professional.
