Fleas in my bedroom carpet… Borax did nothing????

I poured nearly an entire box of borax all over my bedroom carpet 2 nights ago, and since then I have picked 3 fleas off of me and gotten about 10 new bites on my leg… it’s getting really disgusting looking at my legs and foot now, there’s more than 70 bites on my right leg alone and I’m sick of the mother tucking fleas I just want them all to die swiftly and painfully… what really disappointed me was when I tried to suffocate one of the fleas I caught in a pile of borax…. after 10 seconds it was as healthy as a flea can look. the borax does absolutely nothing and I can’t believe it. why doesn’t borax work for me? If you have any tips on how borax should be used, whether it’s even effective at all?? or other DIY ways to exterminate the fleas- (brands of good bug bombs or foggers?) please let me know. I’m desperate.
