PIPE FITTING DIY
DIY plumbing question.?
having fitted a new radiator, i decided to use those polypipe speedfit joints to save messing around with trying to solder the old copper pipe back in place.
i’m now in the position of joining the poly back into the old copper network. will i simply push the copper into the poly elbow..? will it withstand the pressure of the central heating system …? or is there a special copper to poly connector i need to get?
as there’s no olive or rubber whatever on the copper pipe.. what does the poly grip to then… is it just suction?
home insurance eh? ..lol.. well i assembled as i thought …..and flooded the living room …3 mops in the kitchen .. waiting … and everyone stood around amazed at the fountain !!!
Just push the copper pipe into the speedfit connector. Make sure the end of the pipe isn’t too sharp or you may damage the O-ring inside. Push it all the way in and if there is a tightening sleeve, do that up afterwards.
The connection will tighten up further under pressure.
