DIY Overflow PVC help…?

I have a 55 gallon reef aquarium i’m tyring to set up, i’m trying to build an overflow to my 20 gallon sump I realy want to try the PVC pipe method but I dont know the diameter tubing or how to start, will it overflow when the power goes out, does anyone know any sites with plans or any kind of help?

You need to use one of the these to start. You could then just take it to a good fish store in your area and they will give you what you need to plumb it. Or you can just go to home cheapo and get a few feet of vinyl tubing. It is a 1 inch bulk head on this overflow. No they do not flood when the power goes out. The ones that require a pump to maintain a siphon flood when the power goes out .
