SAND WATER FILTER DIY
Question about the new 150 gallon aquarium?

I have a “new” 150 gallon aquarium. I just finished with my DIY trickle filter. I have another well established 75 gallon. I was planning on making it a planted tank. From research I need to establish my tank with plants then a few months later put in my discus. Others have told me to put all my substrate and fish into the new tank. I am confused as to what I need to do. What I want to accomplish is a planted tank. I was going to take my ecocomplete out of my 75g and put it into the 150 along with some more eco complete and silica sand as the topper. Put some mulm from my existing canister into the wet dry filter and let it cycle. Then add the plants to start the plant process. Is this correct? the 75 gallon tank is going to be right next to the 150 as a water storage/q-tank if needed. Please advise.

The way Ive seen it done is add everything you need for the plants put about 10 inch’s of water in plant your plants. Then fill it the rest of the way up with water.
Let it settle for a few days.
then start the cycle with fish .
