DIY UNITY CANDLES
unity candle – all flames enclosed, even tapers?
The venue allows candles, but all flames must be enclosed. Can you give suggestions on how to display the candle sets for the unity candle ceremony?
I can buy a big pillar candle and place in a large glass hurricane, but what about the parents’ taper candles? I haven’t found too many hurricane cylinders to accommodate tapers. Or can you help me get creative for DIY?
I think we’ll use long wooden sticks to light tapers to unity candle.
Most craft stores will have covers for tapers for this specific and other religious ceremonies….
If you are not set on a unity candle but would like a unity ceremony… a lot of people are doing this same type of thing with sand… i think it is traditionally a Hawaiian thing but it can be done with the colors of your wedding or with natural earth colors….
You both have shallow bowls that you each take a handful (some couples choose to use wooden or silver spoons) and release the sand into another empty bowl together showing your unity. There are other types of unity ceremonies too that you could look into….
